Having celebrated their Common Entrance results, Year 8 took on the challenge of The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Set in 1692 America, the grim and gritty script made exceptional demands of the children, with American accents and complicated dialogue. They danced around a cauldron, donned wigs and coifs and transported a transfixed audience into the midst of the Salem witch hunt. The portrayal of religious fundamentalism and populist hysteria all echo our lives today.
A huge challenge and, under the infallible directorship of Mrs Taylor, they stepped up and shone. All the parents felt immensely proud of Year 8’s achievement.
A truly outstanding performance and definitely one to add to the memory bank of their time at Amesbury.
