Through our charity work our aim is to develop a caring community within the school by encouraging commitment, courtesy, co-operation, tolerance and compassion towards one another whilst understanding that each individual is a member of a wider community.

Our Charities

This year, we have chosen The National Emergencies Trust as our whole school charity, as we wanted to ensure that the money we have raised and will continue to raise this year, gets to those people in the most need. This organisation helps to coordinate the charitable response in times of crisis.  At present, they are working with their charity partners to provide emergency food, and health and well-being packages and advice and support to the many thousands of people who have been affected by the global pandemic.

Over the last few years, we have purposefully broadened the range of charities we support to give the children a fuller understanding of the range of charities that exist and the different ways we can support charities. We want to expose our children to the challenges facing children and adults from all ages, abilities and cultures.  All of Amesbury’s children, parents and staff are directly involved in the decision making process.

Year Group Challenges

As well as our whole school charity, each year group in the school from Year 3 upwards, is also challenged to raise awareness and money for a charity of their choice.  Each half term, a different year group researches a charity that they are interested in, they then have to plan and organise an event, promote it and explain the charity to the whole school in assembly.

Charity Day

Our charity work culminates in our annual Charity Day with the whole school getting involved.  Regularly raising over £3,000, it is a day of fun and action including: social and environmental learning, fancy dress, car washing, stalls run by the pupils, volleyball matches and not to mention the staff sumo competition.  All this concludes in two fabulous concerts featuring bands, dancers, choirs and orchestras from throughout the school.
