Early Years

Do you know what are you looking for in a school?

In 2008 we asked RS Academics the Independent Education Consultants to investigate why parents chose our Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception for their children. Parental responses were as follows:-

·       'The children just seemed happier than at other schools'

·       ‘The children seemed a lot more relaxed and contented at Amesbury’

·       ‘A nicer friendlier feel and happier children’

·       ‘The Nursery was bright, colourful, stimulating and safe’

·       ‘I liked Nursery and Reception being separate from Year 1 & Year 2’

Most boys and girls join Amesbury in Pre-Nursery (2-3+), Nursery (3-4+) and Reception (4-5+) years.

In Pre-Nursery and Nursery children attend at least 3 ‘sessions’ per week. Both are open during school half-terms and holidays.

Reception is the first full time year of education. There are two classes each with their own qualified teacher and a teaching assistant.

All children follow the Early Years Curriculum which encourages child initiated and adult led activities working to each individual child’s needs. The boys and girls also benefit from the specialist teaching and facilities in dance, music, drama, tennis and other sport.

The purpose built Early Years centre facility supports the EY curriculum and through its design naturally encourages each child to become more independent using indoor and secure outdoor areas in which to learn.

Although Amesbury is a happy and relaxed school, it is also a very purposeful place. For further evidence of this do please go to the section on 'Leavers' Destinations' and 'Examination Results'.

For detailed documentation on the Early Years Curriculum, or the Nursery Voucher Scheme or to arrange a visit please call Mrs Eleanor Chamberlain, The Admissions Secretary on 01428 604322 or contact us by email at enquiries@amesburyschool.co.uk
