Amesbury Remembrance Service
Amesbury Chapel was overflowing on Remembrance Sunday as parents, grandparents and children arrived to pay their respects to the war dead from past and present day battles.
The Chapel Choir were resplendent in their red cassocks as they sang "I waited for the Lord" by Felix Mendelsshohn and "The Lord is my Shepherd" by Howard Goodall. The soloists, George Hawkins and Harry McWhirter, sang with such clarity and purity it was a delight to listen to. A very solemn James Robinson laid the wreath in the Memorial Garden and Freya Mileham trumpeted the Last Post as the skies darkened and rain threatened.
Coffee afterwards in the dining room was a welcome respite from the cold on this sombre Sunday.
