Amesbury's Fundraising Presentation
Amesbury School's pupils, parents and staff have been celebrating recently after collecting a total of £24,647 for two charities through a year of exciting fundraising activities.
The Hindhead school has been supporting The Kings World Trust, which aims to help orphaned and homeless children in southern India and CHASE children's hospice in Guildford, during the last academic year.
The school made and released a CD call 'Love Can Build A Bridge'. For the recording the children were joined by professional singers, Daniel Pearce and Hinda Hicks and took part in the production of both the CD and accompanying video.
Every child took part in a mini-marathon last April. The children ran, hopped, skipped 26 times or ran 2.6 kilometres.

Headteacher Nigel Taylor and geography teacher Martin Gibb ran in The London Marathon in sweltering conditions and added to the growing funds.
In June, the school had a 'Party in the Park' where children performed songs, and visitors had the chance to look around the many stalls.
There was also a charity sale of art work exhibited in the school's Performing Arts Centre. At the end of the summer term the children held their annual Charity Day when they organised and ran their own stalls, raising over £1,000 through pocket-money priced activities.
Parents contributed by organising a Christmas Fair and hosting a very successful Summer Ball. CHASE will be able to support a child with life-limiting illness and their family, for nearly two years with their share of the money.
A representative from The Kings World Trust told children the charity would be able to fund bursaries for two children, to board for five years at the school, and for another two to attend as day children, also for five years.
The money raised will also be used by The Kings World Trust to pay for the medical care and physiotherapy for two very handicapped children for five years.
Children from the Amesbury school presented the cheques to Geraldine Keeley from CHASE and Anne-Marie Wagstaff from The Kings World Trust, at a special assembly held to celebrate raising the money.
