Amesbury School Fundraise for LEPRA
Amesbury School Fundraise for LEPRA
Amesbury School pupils bent and stretched in aid of charity last week, raising more than £1,000 for leprosy.
The sponsored aerobic workout had 200 pupils aged between six and thirteen to raise £1,113 to treat people with the deeply disabling disease.
LEPRA community fundraiser Pru Lunberg said, "Amesbury School has set a fine example to other schools in the area. Together we can make a huge impact upon the health and well being of individuals and families suffering the effects of leprosy."
In the past 15 years over 10 million people have been cured of leprosy, but last year over 800,000 new cases were confirmed. The cost of a cure is £21.
