Amesbury takes a trip to the circus

THE circus took a festive twist at Amesbury School in Hindhead last week at the nativity play of the 118 pre-prep children.

Watched on by parents, school governors and friends, the pupils, all aged between three and seven years old, told the tale of the nativity through a circus environment.

Following the performances, which took place on Thursday and Friday last week, guests enjoyed refreshments of tea and mince pies.

Head of the pre-prep department Lesley Bell explained: "There were several acts from the circus including clowns and the elephants, then the tale told of snow.

"As the circus couldn't go anywhere they decided to tell the story of Christmas."

She added: "It was very successful, everyone enjoyed it."

The nativity was one of a series of events leading to the end of term for Amesbury School.

Other events include the annual school carol service and the Christmas party, which is attended by special guest Father Christmas.
