Art Exhibition in Aid of School Charities

On Tuesday 9th February Jenny Bray organised a spectacular Art Exhibition which was held in the PAC.  The philosophy behind it was to raise money for the school’s charities and to showcase the wonderful artistic abilities of the Amesbury pupils.  Every child from Years 1 – 8 created a picture for the exhibition.  Years 3 – 8’s theme was ‘Seasons’, each child choosing their favourite season and creating a picture in any medium they preferred, ranging from acrylic paints, watercolours, pastel or collage.  Year 2’s pictures were inspired from the illustrations of Jan Pienkowski taken from ‘The Tale of Ali Baba’.  They painted a watercolour background and added silhouette figures and detail using black paper.  Year 1 used potato and card to print robins who were all very jolly with their bright red breasts and rounded bodies.

The overall result was a room full of colour and imaginative creations which delighted the eye and drew the observer on from one picture to the next.  Parents were encouraged to buy their child’s picture and extra prints could be ordered which resulted in almost £700 being raised for CHASE and The Kings World Trust in India.
