Global Theme Inspires Amesbury Art Show

An exhibition of art projects from around the world, put together by children at Amesbury School in Hindhead, caught the eye of staff, parents and visitors last week.

The event was held in the old gym where pupils displayed their work which has been made over the last twelve months.

The exhibits included paintings and sculptures which were inspired by a variety of cultures from around the world including aboriginal art and red Indian (Native American art.

Children from years three to eight took part in the project which head of pre-prep, Leslie Bell, said was a great success.

She said, "The exhibition was open all week and there were lots of people who came to see the children's work.  Everyone was very impressed.

"We hold the event every year with a different theme and next year's work on art inspired by toys has already begun."

She added, "Every child had something to display in the gym and the head of art, Jenny Bray, did a great job in putting the show together, it was a complete success."
