Rowan Saxton wins place in Crufts 2010

Seven year old Rowan Saxton in Year 3 has just won a place to compete at Crufts in March 2010 in the Agility Class of the competition.

Rowan has been dog handling since the age of six when he decided he wanted to follow in his mother's footsteps as he shadowed her at various competitions.  He is a member of the Young Kennel Club which holds ten qualifiers throughout the year for Crufts with only the top two out of each qualifier going through.  Rowan won his place during half term at a Young Kennel Club camp in Nottinghamshire so he will be taking 9 year old Misha, a rescue dog, through his paces from now until then to get him ready for the real thing.  The course will consist of 20 obstacles, there is a 5 minute walk round the course but no practising and the dog negotiates the course with only hand signals and voice commands by his trainer.

This is quite a feat for such a young boy and Amesbury wish him every bit of success with the forth coming event in March.
