Showshack Theatre School Showtime 2009

Showshack is a theatre school based in Farnham run by Pauline Thomson which offers local children a chance to develop their performance skills in dance (ballet, tap jazz or modern) and musical theatre and this term they put on a performance called Showtime 2009 at the Prince's Theatre in Aldershot.  The show was a compilation of popular musicals such as Wicked, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Hairspray, Les Miserables, High School Musical and Joseph. A matinee and an evening performance were played on both Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November, each an hour and a half in length and the auditorium was packed for each one.  A professional orchestra, sound and lighting helped to make the show the success it was; indeed, so much so that you could have been mistaken for thinking that you were sitting in one of the West End's theatres!

The Amesbury pupils who took part, also Saturday students at Showshack, were Lauren Thomas (who played Annie), Jevan Watson (playing Joseph), Christopher Wilkinson, Isaac Rowlands, Imogen and Alice McWhirter, Emily Cooper and Phoebe Williams along with 520 other children.  It was quite an extravaganza and a very exhausted Pauline Thomas summed up that it was a huge success and the cast behaved like professionals.  The proceeds from the concert are going toward St Luke's Cancer Charity in Guildford, a charity close to Pauline's heart.
