Spelling Bee

After an exciting Year 7 internal  spelling bee to select a team,  four of Year 7s  top spellers were chosen to take part in the regional final of The Times spelling Bee competition in Southampton on Wednesday 24th March. Matilda Martin, Oliver Duckworth, Charlie Newman and Sebastian Harwood took part in a tough competition against several others schools. A spelling play-off started the competition and tested our spellers to the full as they were required to spell all sorts of weird and wonderful words. A half time break for popcorn and team tactics and then it was straight into the Quickfire challenge – spelling at speed! Our Amesbury team, A Bee C, performed brilliantly and spelt words that would challenge people twice their age! They finished the competition in 5th place. Well done to all who took part.
