Spelling Bee

After an exciting Year 7 internal spelling bee to select a team, four of Year 7s top spellers were chosen to take part in the regional final of The Times spelling Bee competition in Southampton on Wednesday 24^th March. Matilda Martin, Oliver Duckworth, Charlie Newman and Sebastian Harwood took part in a tough competition against several others schools. A spelling play-off started the competition and tested our spellers to the full as they were required to spell all sorts of weird and wonderful words. A half time break for popcorn and team tactics and then it was straight into the Quickfire challenge – spelling at speed! Our Amesbury team, A Bee C, performed brilliantly and spelt words that would challenge people twice their age! They finished the competition in 5^th place. Well done to all who took part.
