In the tenth minute of the match the excellent Feltonfleet referee stopped this match and asked, quite seriously, if this really was the Amesbury ‘C’ team or if there hadn’t been a mix up with the ‘A’ or ‘B’ team playing on the wrong field.

The team produced another comprehensive victory and is listed below and for good reason; because it was a team victory. David Cruickshank, Ben Duchesne, Piers Fairston (Captain), Felix Hall, Benedict Hewson, William Shirley, Hamish Urquuhart, Dougie Benson and Bryan Xuan.

Highlights? A hat-trick from Benedict Hewson, stylish passing and finishing from Captain Piers Fairston and a ferocious last minute shot for goal from Felix Hall.

The Gold Medal goes to first-half goalkeeper Dougie Benson. He earned the admiration of teammates and onlookers alike as he staggered determinedly towards his goal at the start of the game, like a climber approaching the summit of K2 replete with helmet, pads, supports, knee shields, chest shields, elbow shields, padded goalkeeper gloves and other essential pieces of associated body armour. The ball did not even enter his half during the entire first half. He played outfield in the second half!
