Year 3 Egyptian Workshop

On Wednesday morning, Year 3 pupils took part in an Egyptian workshop run by Haslemere Educational Museum.

They thoroughly enjoyed learning about the more gory details of mummification which included removing the internal organs from ‘Sooty’ the model and extracting his ‘brain’ by putting a hook up his nose!

They took part in various activities which included learning about hieroglyphs, playing Egyptian games and examining x-rays of the mummy from the museum.

Finally, each child was able to mummify a doll or teddy bear using copious amounts of bandages.

They wrote the toy’s name on papyrus, drew a death mask and inserted good luck charms under the bandages.

The workshop brought to life many of the topics covered in school and was a true educational experience.
