Year 4's Production of Thom Ashworth's 'The Thrown Away Boy'

The Thrown Away Boy is an original story inspired by the tradition of cautionary tales for children such as Aesop's Fables or Not Now Bernard. The script was written as a platform to develop the skills of working as a team, physical theatre and storytelling.  The songs were written and recorded in free periods, conceived as a bridge between my background as a 'pop' songwriter and more traditional shanty song forms - both genres sharing the vital 'singalong' quality that I have striven for.

I think the audience agreed that the show was a great success, certainly the children had a great time putting together a performance where there were no stars but everyone had to work as a team to tell a story.
