Year 5 Sing with David Haines at Surrey University Science Festival
Year 5, dressed in brightly coloured t-shirts, took part in David Haines' 'Tremendous Journey: Songs of Life and Evolution' at Surrey University as part of the Science Festival, alongside Fernhurst Primary School. The songs told a story of the evolution of the world from the land of the dinosaur to the present day. There was a strong message within the words of the songs that nature is always evolving and it is important to look after our fragile planet today, with its complexity of life, for the generations to come.
The children sang with gusto and looked like they were really enjoying themselves, helped along by David Haines on the keyboard and his troupe of older singers and story tellers. They performed exceedingly well, especially as it was only two days after term started with the long summer behind them and one rehearsal since the beginning of term!
