Year 6 "Bugsy Malone"
Year 6 "Bugsy Malone"
Grand Slams, splurge guns and dancing girls, the Year 6 production of Bugsy Malone had arrived at Amesbury! On 14th and 15th May after months of hard graft and hours of rehearsing Year 6 transported the captivated audience back to 1920s USA. Two gangs are at war. Dandy Dan (cooly portrayed by Richard Smart) and Fat Sam (what an entrance from Kit Livsey!), Meanwhile Bugsy is falling for Blousey and Eleanor Kingston and Rory Hunter both gave outstanding performances as the romance blossomed. Meanwhile back in Fat Sam’s Grand Slam, Talluluah and her cohort of dancing girls are ruling the roost. Eleanor Hillcox as Talullah wants Bugsy for herself. War rages as the two gangs continue to battle. Dandy Dan is using the new splurge gun to destroy his enemy; David Buchanan, Ollie Duckworth, Rebecca Potts, Charlie Henderson and Lucia Bennet wielded the weapons and ultimately destroy Fat Sam’s Gang; Zach Burrage, Alex Shirley, Josh Holland, Rory Macnair and Harry Jackson are wiped out in a frenzy of splurge and custard pies! But don’t fret…Smolsky (Henry Xuan) and O’Dreary (Jevan Watson) are on the case. Hunting for clues, dusting fingerprints, but still the crime remains unsolved! Meanwhile, Bugsy enlists the help of Leroy (Charlie Newman) training him to be a boxer. With the help of the down and outs and in particular Babyface, comically portrayed by Hugo Bungey, the guns are retrieved and returned to Fat Sam’s Grand Slam where yet another raid by Dandy Dan’s Gang ensues. The day is saved as all are shown the error of their ways. The dancing girls lead the celebrations and all is well in the world of gang warfare, romance and splurge!
