Year 6 to London
Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Death & Destruction were the focus of the Year 6 visit to the Natural History Museum on Tuesday 22nd September. The children were tasked with exploring the 'Power Within' gallery, investigating first-hand the Pacific Ring of Fire, the Mount Pinatubo eruption and even standing in a supermarket during the Kobe earthquake! A hugely involving day was had by all and thankfully everyone returned not too shaken by the experience.
'What Makes Stories?'...that was the question to be answered during the Year 6 workshop which also took place at the V and A Museum on Tuesday 22nd September.
The interactive storytelling workshop provided an overview of the history of storytelling and explored different types of stories using practical exercises and group work. As the children created and performed their own stories, based upon artifacts from the museum, it gave them some new material, as well as inspiration, with which to compose their own stories on return to school!
