‘The children just seemed happier than at other schools’ RS Academics 2008

Pre-Prep

Imagine being taught in an environment purpose built as a school, by possibly the greatest British architect of all time Sir Edwin Lutyens.  Or as the editor of The Good Schools Guide writes ‘The main building is for Years 1 & 2, lucky devils’.

Two parallel classes in Year 1 (5-6) and in Year 2 (6-7) years, with 15 pupils in each class (30 per year group) are taught by experienced classroom teachers supported by classroom assistants.

The school day starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:45pm. Children have a hot lunch, cooked on site, in the school dining hall in the Lutyens building and served on a ‘family service’ basis by their own teachers.

While the Pre-Prep Curriculum is primarily delivered by class teachers there is specialist teaching in Modern Dance and Ballet, Music and Physical Education.

A series of after school clubs and activities including Chess, Tennis, Judo and individual music lessons are available to the children. The children are placed in a house system to encourage healthy competition.

Holiday Clubs operate during half-terms and holidays.
