U8A V Cranleigh Prep
Lost 9-8
Batter of the match: Isobel
Fielder of the match: Ysabel

A brilliant last rounders match for the U8A girls. They won the toss and therefore got to field first. Chloe performed some excellent long barriers ensuring the ball did not travel past her and she could follow it up by stumping 2nd post. Emily, Isobel and Victoria all worked well as deep fielders, chasing the the ball and backing up the post when needed. Tamzi was working hard on 3rd post catching with confidence. Florence and Ysabel worked well together as bowler and backstop, communicating well with the rest of the team. Amesbury were up to bat and Isobel started the game well by scoring 1 rounder. Cloe, Ysabel and Emily all went on to score a number of half rounders. Florence scored 2 rounders on her next to bats. At half time the score was 6 – 4 to Amesbury.

The girls knew they had to really tighten their fielding. After a quick fly by from the Red Arrows the second innings was under way. Again the girls all worked well together trying hard to stop Cranleigh from scoring. Yasbel had a brilliant catch, Florence stumped another player at 1st post. Chloe was on form at second post stumping 3 players out in total. Batting for the second time and the girls were really going to have to sprint round the posts. Unfortunately some of them made a few bad decisions and were stumped out at various different posts. Isobel continued to really hit that ball hard and watched the ball well when running to ensure she didn’t get out. Emily, Yasbel and Isobel all scored a number of half rounders between them. The final score was 9-8 to Cranleigh. For their last game the girls played well and it was lovely to see the progress made by all of them. Well done girls.
