Talent attracts talent: well-qualified, enthusiastic and interesting teachers provide role models for Amesburians to become enthusiastic learners.

Mr Nigel Taylor (Headmaster) gained his B.Sc. (Hons) in Sports Science and Geography (1978), P.G.C.E. (1979) and Masters (1994) at Loughborough University. He taught at Stowe, Cheltenham College, St. Andrew's Scots School Argentina, was Deputy Head at St. Paul's Sao Paulo, Brazil and Headmaster of Pierrepont. He was appointed as the ninth Headmaster of Amesbury in September 1994.

Mr Peter Donaldson (Deputy Headmaster) gained a B.Sc (Joint Hons) Degree in Geography and Physical Education from St Andrew's University and a PGCE from Homerton College, University of Cambridge. He has spent his entire teaching career in the preparatory sector and joined us from a local preparatory school where he had been Deputy Head for five years. He was appointed in September 2006.

Mrs Pippa Probert (Director of Studies) was appointed Head of English at Amesbury in September 2004 and promoted to her current position in 2006. She completed her B.A. (Hons) in Media Arts at the University of Plymouth, PGCE at Southampton University, and Masters Degree in Modern English Literature at University of London (Birkbeck College). She was formerly Head of English at Putney Park School. She was appointed in September 2004.

Mrs Charlotte Lush (Director of Communications, Head of Performing Arts) was awarded her B.A. in English Literature and Music and a Diploma of Teaching from The University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Prior to her appointment at Amesbury as Head of Performing Arts in September 2002, she taught at Gordonstoun and was Director of Music at Sherborne Preparatory School for three years. She was promoted to her current position of Director of Communications in 2008.

Mr Martin Gibb (Head of Geography, eLearning, Year 6 Tutor) gained a B.Ed (Hons) in Education & Geography from Westminster College, Oxford University.  Prior to joining Amesbury in 2002 he taught for three years at Wimbledon Chase Primary School as Head of Games.  He is due to commence studying for an MSc in eLearning from Edinburgh University in January 2010.

Mrs Paola Aquines de Stockbridge (Spanish) was awarded her BA (Hons) from the University of Surrey where she also was awarded a Certificate in Education and a teacher-training certificate in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language.  She has experience in teaching Spanish to different levels, including GCSE, A'Level, AS & A2 Level.

Mrs Diana Anscombe (Year 2 Form Teacher) joined Amesbury in September 1997, prior to which she had taught at various schools in the state sector, most recently at Camelsdale School. She gained her Certificate of Education from Froebel College in 1978.

Mr Thom Ashworth (Performing Arts) was awarded a Higher National Diploma in Contemporary Music by Middlesex University and Gold Medals in Acting, Speech and Mime by London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Before joining Amesbury, he worked in theatre as a designer and technician; working for Opera North, Gravity&Levity and English National Opera. He is currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Art and Philosophy with the Open University. He was appointed in September 2008.

Miss Emily Barkway (Head of English, Year 6 Tutor) completed her B.A.(Ed) Hons in Music from Exeter University in 2000. She joined Amesbury as a teacher of Year 3 and music and was promoted to her current position as Head of English in October 2008. She is currently in her second year of study for an M.A. in Children's Literature at Roehampton University.

Mr Martin Bartlett (Director of Sport) was educated at King Edward VI Grammar School, Stratford upon Avon, and in 1996 graduated from Hull University with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Psychology. Upon leaving, he went to the 'City', and then to Danes Hill, Leatherhead where he gained Graduate Teacher Status. He was an England Schoolboy International in Football and Rugby. He was appointed September 2007.

Mrs Jackie Bowers (Head of Mathematics, Year 5 Tutor) was awarded a B.A. (Hons) with Qualified Teacher Status in Maths and History from Warwick University. Prior to joining Amesbury she taught at Haslemere Heights and Mayfield School. She was appointed in September 1999.

Mrs Jenny Bray (Head of Art, Upper School Tutor) Cert Ed. Taught at St. Bartholemew's Middle School then joined Amesbury in 1987 to teach English and History. She was appointed to her current post of Head of Art & Design in September 1990.

Miss Alice Cowan (Year 1 Form Teacher) was awarded a B.A. (Hons, 2:1) in English & Drama with Qualified Teaching Status from Kingston University. Prior to joining Amesbury she taught at The Hall, Wimbledon, Rokeby and Warwick Prep Schools. She was appointed in September 2008.

Mrs Emily Caffrey (Reception Form Teacher) was awarded a B.Ed. (Hons, 2:1) in English Literature specialising in the Early Years from Chester College, Liverpool University and a post graduate law degree from The College of Law in Birmingham. Before joining Amesbury she taught at Southfield School in Brackley. She was appointed full time in January 2008.

Mr Mike Dullforce (Director of ICT Services) joined Amesbury in September 2001 from industry, having previously worked at Charterhouse for five years as an Information Technology Technician/Teacher. He has an HNC (Hons) in Computer Automation and Networking, a BTEC National Diploma in Computer and Electronic Engineering and is MSCE qualified.

Mrs Lauren Dover (Head of Girls' Physical Education) completed her B.A. (Hons) Degree in Physical Education and Mathematics with qualified teacher status from University of Brighton (Chelsea School of Physical Education) in 1998 and was appointed in September 2005 having previously taught at Hove Park School and Sir Frederic Osborn School.

Miss Kirsty Evans completed her B.A. (Hons) Degree in Physical Education with qualified teacher status from University of Brighton in 2002. Before joining Amesbury she taught at Ipswich High School for Girls and Goffs School.

Mrs Carol Faasen (Reception Form Teacher) was awarded a Higher Diploma in Primary Education from the University of The Witwatersrand Johannesburg and has Qualified Teacher Status.  Before joining Amesbury she worked as a Foundation Stage co-ordinator at St Cecilia's Roman Catholic Primary School in Sutton.  She was appointed in September 2008.

Mrs Jane Garfield (Head of Modern Languages) has a Joint Honours Degree (2:1) in French and German from Exeter University and a P.G.C.E. from Canterbury Christ Church College. On graduation she taught in Japan and France, joining Amesbury from King Alfred's Community College (11-18) Wantage where she taught French for five years and had a specific responsibility for the school's Gifted and Talented programme. She was appointed in September 2006.

Mrs Sandy Gibb (Year 4 Form Teacher) was awarded a B.Ed. (Hons, 2:1) in Education: Mathematics from Westminster College, Oxford University. Before joining Amesbury she was Head of Maths at St Ives. She was appointed in September 2008.

Mrs Nicky Gritten (Science, Maths) has an M.A. in Physics from Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford University and a P.G.C.E. from Chelsea College (the former teacher training college of University College London). Before joining Amesbury in September 2004 she taught extensively in the state sector.

Mr John Hamilton (Third Master, Head of History & Upper School Tutor) was awarded his Masters Degree in History from Edinburgh University. Prior to his appointment to Amesbury in September 1983, he taught at Mostyn House School.

Mrs Maggie Hamilton (English, Learning Support, Girls Pastoral Care, Year 5 Tutor) has a Montessori Diploma and earned her RSA Diploma in Specific Learning Difficulties, with distinction, through the Helen Arkell Centre. She was appointed in September 1994.

Mrs Susie Hoffman (English) Was awarded a B.S (Elementary Education) from Kings College, Bristol, Tennessee. She later completed an M.A. in Christian Education from The Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, Mississippi. She joined Amesbury as a member of the English Department in November 2008.

Mrs Mary-Lou Knox (Year 4 Form Teacher) joined Amesbury in 1991, prior to which she taught extensively in the state primary sector. She was awarded a Certificate of Education from The Roehampton Institute in 1974.

Mr Jonathan Lawrence (Head of Science, Upper School Form Tutor) was appointed head of department in January 2006. He has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology from Southampton University, a P.G.C.E. from Bath Spa University, and an M.Sc. from University College London. He started his teaching career at Northwood Preparatory School where he taught for five years before moving to Colet Court, (St Paul's Preparatory School) where he taught for three years.  He is currently studying for an MBA in Educational Leadership at Keele University.

Mr Michael Lush (English, History, Geography) gained a B.A. Hons (History and International Relations) from The Australian National University. He previously taught at Gordonstoun and Sherborne Preparatory School where he was Head of Boarding. Prior to joining Amesbury in 2006 he taught for four years at Edgeborough as a Year 4 teacher.  He is currently studying for an M.Sc. in Educational Leadership at Leicester University.

Mr Kevin Maguire (Physical Education, Year 6 Tutor) was awarded a B.A. (Hons) in Physical Education from the University of Chichester. He currently plays hockey for Havant H.C, having previously represented Edinburgh H.C. in Scottish National Division 1.  He was appointed in September 2008.

Ms Sheila Munnings (Year 2 Form Teacher) was awarded a Certificate in Education from The University of Liverpool, a Postgraduate diploma in Education (Specific learning difficulties) from the University of Kingston and a Postgraduate diploma in Education (language difficulties) from the University of Kingston. Before joining Amesbury she taught at Pewley Down Infant School in Guildford. She joined Amesbury in January 2008.

Miss Charlotte O'Neil (Latin) is currently a Postgraduate student at the University of Reading, studying the MA City of Rome, which she will complete this September.  As part of her MA, and her undergraduate degree (BA Ancient History) she has studied Latin to an intermediate level.

Mrs Anya Phillips (Drama Teacher, Speech & Drama) trained at the Royal Ballet School and L.T.A prior to a career in theatre, television and film. She was awarded the ATCL (Dist) teaching Speech and Drama from Trinity College, London and taught at Laine Theatre Arts, Epsom before joining Amesbury in September 2006.

Mrs Petra Pool (Head of the Pre-Nursery) was awarded The Royal Ballet School Teachers Training Diploma,  A.R.A.D and has NVQ level 3 through her work with children. She has since become an NVQ assessor in child care. Prior to being made Head of the Amesbury Pre-Nursery upon its opening in September 2006, Petra ran the Royal School Nursery and taught dance peripatetically for many schools in Surrey and Hampshire.

Mrs Jane Quick (Learning Support) graduated from the University of East Anglia in 1973 with a BSc Hons (3rd class) in Chemistry.  She was awarded her PGCE in 2002 from University College Chichester.  Before joining Amesbury she taught at The Royal School, Chichester High School for Girls, Westergate School, Chichester, Midhurst Grammar School, Amery Hill Comprehensive, Alton and Cowplain Community School.

Mrs Tanya Rathmell (Science, Year 3 Form Tutor) was awarded a B.Ed (Hons) in 1996 at Queensland University of Technology. She first taught in the state sector in Brisbane before moving to Manchester in 1998 where she taught Year 3 at Bridgewater School in Worsley. She moved to Surrey and joined Amesbury in September 1999.

Mrs Susan Rowlett (Maths, Year 5 Tutor) was awarded a B.Sc. (Hons, 2:1) in Mathematics and Computer Science from Royal Holloway College, University of London and has Graduate Teacher Status. After a career in industry she taught at Holy Trinity School, Guildford and Barnsbury School, Woking. She was appointed in September 2008.

Mrs Elaine Starling (Nursery Teacher) joined Amesbury in 1998 having previously worked as an Early Years specialist for six years at Shottermill Infant School, Haslemere.

Mrs Annie Wallis (Year 1 Form Teacher) was appointed in January 2002. Prior to joining Amesbury she had taught at Pennthorpe Preparatory School, Churcher's College Junior School and most recently Longacre School, Guildford. She gained a B.Ed. (Hons) from The University of Exeter in 1980.
