The governance of Amesbury (Amesbury School Trust Limited) is in the hands of a governing body consisting of a Chair and ten governors. There is a broad mix of skills and experience, with a strong emphasis on Business, Finance and Education.

Craig Decker

Craig's Bio
Craig became Chair the Board of Governors in October 2025, having joined the Board in 2023 to continue the school’s commitment to its Digital Committee. The Digital Committee provide focus for the school’s long-term approach to the provision of IT as a subject, an aid to learning and as the backbone to the school’s communication and information systems. Craig moved from Australia to the United Kingdom in 1996 to pursue his career in technology. He is currently consulting to many technology start-up companies in the areas of AI, Human Talent Management, Data Quality, Cyber Security and Unified Communications. Craig previously worked for many years in the Internet technology sector, holding senior roles in Cisco, BroadSoft, Cosine and Ascend.
His son and daughter were both educated at Amesbury and subsequently at Seaford College. Married to Carol, they enjoy walking their dogs (Barney and Sadie). Craig spends his spare time gardening, playing tennis and golf.

Susie Perrett

Susie's Bio
Having trained as a Primary school teacher at Durham University, Susie began her career working for Bass PLC undertaking a number of roles from retail operations to brand management. On completing her MBA at Lancaster, with a focus on Leadership and Executive Coaching, she worked for a boutique consultancy delivering change management training for 2 years, before joining the International Business Leaders Forum. From 2006-2017 she worked for Business in the Community, running their Business Action on Homelessness campaign and delivery programme across the country until 2013. Her final years there were spent running their education work, partnering disadvantaged schools across the country with long-term business partners to improve outcomes for the children.
Her two children joined Amesbury in 2016 and Susie joined the Board of Governors with a particular interest in Education and People Development
Karen Davies

Karen's Bio
Karen joined the Board in 2019. Karen has been Deputy Head (Pastoral) at Charterhouse and was previously Academic & Pastoral Principal at The Royal Ballet School for five years. Karen read English Literature at Girton College, Cambridge before working in banking for a period of time. She then completed an MBA at Warwick Business School and worked as a management consultant for almost fifteen years, specialising in leadership and managing change in industries as diverse as industrial services and ballroom dancing costume design. Eventually she saw sense and became a teacher. She is a passionate believer in co-education and has two grown-up children who were educated at Swanbourne House Prep, Millfield School and Cheltenham College. Her daughter is now also a teacher and her son a manager in the hospitality industry.
Pam Mundy
EYFS Specialist Governor

Pam's Bio
Pam is a highly experienced EYFS to Secondary education professional, internationally renowned author and keynote speaker with global recognition for her specialism in the development of Early Childhood Education and Care, international education, school review and accreditation, inspection, analytical due diligence and school start up projects in a variety of diverse locations including: Africa, SE Asia, USA, the Gulf region (including significant projects in Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UAE and Qatar).
She recently completed four years as Founding Director of Schools and Education for the NEOM Education, Research and Innovation Sector, leading education development and school start up in the new giga city of NEOM, Saudi Arabia. Pam operates at both strategic and executive level for a wide range of international school groups, businesses, and educational organisations. She is currently working on variety of high-net-worth education development projects, including the expansion of British schools into Saudi Arabia, North and South America, UAE, West Africa, Vietnam, India, Japan, Singapore and Thailand. Her most recent project with Charterhouse School UK resulted in the opening of Charterhouse Lagos, Nigeria in September 2024. She recently completed successful work on a new development project with the Red Sea Global group, Saudi Arabia.
Other previous executive roles include international posts: Director of Education for Dar Al Marefa Schools Dubai, Chief Academic Officer for Knightsbridge Schools International and Director for Quality Assurance and Professional Development for World Class Learning/British Schools of America (now part of the Nord Anglia Education Group) based in Houston, Texas. She held an advisory role to the Rashid and Latifa School Design Team Task Force in Dubai. Pam also holds positions on UK and International Education Boards (including the ETEC Accreditation Committee in Saudi Arabia) and a variety of international Ministry of Education Select Committees and ground-breaking international educational research groups.
She is a Founding and Advisory Board Member of the International Businesswomen in Education Network, a member of the Worldwide Women Association and proud to be one of the founding members of Ladies Who LaunchED! a brand-new community of female business founders. Pam was honoured to be short-listed by the Lead 50/50 organisation as ‘Inspirational Woman of the Year, 2022’ and to be named as one of the 40 Outstanding Global Women 2023 by the ReLocate/Think Global organisation. Her most recent publication, the co-authored ‘International Schools: Navigating Leadership Culture and Context’ (Fulton Books) was released in January 2024. She is proud to be the Patron of the UK based ‘Hearts and Handovers’ Charity, that provides free, ‘pre-loved’ resources for families in and around London needing support for children from birth to six years.
Sandip Patel

Sandip's Bio
Sandip joined the Amesbury School Board in 2024 and has oversight of Boarding at Amesbury. He is Director of Entrepreneurship at Charterhouse where he is also a Teacher of Business. Sandip has played a pivotal role in establishing an accredited Entrepreneurship Diploma as part of Charterhouse’s ‘FutureU’ programme.
He studied Geography at King’s College London and later served as an Army Officer with the 1st Queen’s Dragoon Guards. Sandip has founded a number of start ups in the hospitality, leisure, and education sectors working in Kenya and the U.K.
Residing in Godalming with his wife, Hayfa, and their two children, Sandip is an avid sports enthusiast and a dedicated volunteer at the RESTART Orphanage in Kenya.
Hugh Sturges
Finance Committee

Hugh's Bio
A qualified Chartered Accountant, Hugh has spent the majority of his career in financial or general management of companies in the wines and spirits sector, from Bacardi to Berry Bros. & Rudd. Although now semi-retired, he continues to hold a directorship in the London-based retail and wholesale wine merchant group Jeroboams Limited. Hugh is also a consultant to an English wine business in Hampshire.
Hugh is also a Governor at Pond Meadow, a SEN Academy in Guildford, and chairs a medium-sized firm of accountants.
Hugh has three adult children who all attended Amesbury.
Hugh acts as Finance Governor at Amesbury and chairs the Finance and Facilities Committee.
Hugh enjoys sailing and is a fully engaged sailing buddy for Sailability at Frensham Pond.

Ian Ferguson

Ian's Bio
Ian has three grown-up sons all of whom attended Amesbury. The youngest left the school in 2014. All have happy memories of their school days, and Amesbury friendships which endure to this day.
Ian was appointed as a governor in 2022.
He is a solicitor currently working as general counsel of a telecoms/technology company. Previously he worked for many years at IBM where he led the legal team for the UK and Ireland and was company secretary. He started his career at the international law firm Clifford Chance.
Ian brings a breadth of legal skills and experience to the Amesbury governing board, including in matters of board governance, commercial contracts and employment.
James Welham
Education Committee

James's Bio
James joined the board in 2022 and is the Staff Liaison governor and governor with responsibility for the Education and Safeguarding Committee. He teaches Mathematics at Bedales School where, as Head of Faculty, he oversees both Mathematics and the school’s Digital Game Design BAC.
Since graduating from Durham University in 2000, he has taught at a range of independent boarding schools including Wycliffe College as Housemaster, Harrogate Ladies College as Assistant Head (Boarding), and Twyford Prep School as Head of Mathematics.
Outside teaching, James is a keen artist, enjoying painting and linocut printing. He has a son and daughter, both of whom are at Bedales, who together with his wife, an Anglican vicar, enjoy all the benefits of living amidst the South Downs.
