A large percentage of pupils at Amesbury play tennis. Through Amesbury Tennis Academy (ATA) we offer children from beginner to national level the opportunity to learn tennis from committed, knowledgeable and driven professional tennis coaches.

Tennis is a life sport, played by both males and females of all ages.  Children as young as 2 years of age enjoy the tennis facilities at Amesbury.  At this young age learning basic tennis skills not only encourages a healthy lifestyle but also helps children to develop visibly stronger hand/eye coordination.  This in turn assists them with writing skills within the classroom.  Moving up the school, by having such a wealth of knoweldge and experience, ATA have nurtured serveral talented tennis pupils to county and professional level, an achievement we are always very proud of.

At ATA we offer the complete beginner, and the player that perhaps is a little nervous of contact sport, the perfect balance between competitive/social and simply just good exercise without the rough and tumble.  We also enable the players who want to stretch themselves into competitive tournaments, or to represent the school/club/county/country, the opportunity to do so within a fully supportive and knowledgable environment.

Full time Head Professional Andy Warry leads the programme supported by a team of five coaches based at Amesbury. All coaches are DBS checked and have LTA/PTR/RPT qualifications.

Tennis lessons are available from Nursery through to Year 8.

Group, individual and shared lessons are available throughout the year. Group lessons run in school time, after school and at the weekends. Private lessons are available on a 1:1, 2 or 3 sharing basis and are scheduled around each pupil’s timetable to fit in with their school day.

Groups are split depending on a player’s standard. For performance players i.e. high club players through to national standard, there is a performance programme designed to help each player reach his/her full potential.

Tennis Leaders LTA Courses run for Year 8 in their last term at school,; this is optional but gives them a solid understanding and is the first step of a Tennis Qualification.
