U11B v Highfield
Won 10-9
Players player – Alice
Lady of the match – Milly

What an absolutely fantastic match for the U11B Netball team. It was a tough first quarter for the girls as they soon realised that if they wanted to win this match they really had to wake up and go for it and want every ball. The team passed brilliantly but unfortunately they needed that extra spark. At the end of the first quarter the score was 4-1 to Highfield. A quick regroup and some individual and group feedback and the girls were soon back on court showing more enthusiasm. Flora was on fire with her shooting and scored 3 more goals. They were starting to close that gap which was exactly what they were asked to do. At half time Amesbury were only 2 goals down and really showing they could win this. Alice, Alice and Lissie were strong in defence, indenturing the ball with confidence. Emily and Flora continued to work well together with lots of passing and movement in the D. After the third quarter the girls were only trailing by 1 goal. Emily worked well as WA with lots of brilliant dodging into space. In the final quarter the girls really went for it showing hunger and determination for the ball. Milly was so wonderfully loud as C calling for the ball with passion and movement beautifully up the court. Raphy marked her player tightly as GK, jumping for the rebounds. The girls finished the match winning 10-9. The whole team worked well together and should be very proud of themselves. Well done girls.

2nd Netball vs Felton Fleet
Lost 5-23
Players player: Immy
Lady of the Match: Sammy

This week the 2nd’s travelled to Felton Fleet for their match and it was fabulous to see the weather hold up for another week of netball. Although it was a tough match against Felton Fleet, every single girl tried their absolute hardest until the very end which was great to see. The girls started off strong, bringing the score to 3-4 at quarter time. Strong and accurate passing helped Amesbury move the ball swiftly down the court to the attacking D. It was super to see lots of effort and commitment from the girls with loose balls constantly being chased down! By half time Felton Fleet had pulled ahead to bring the score to 4-10. Sammy lead strongly for the ball, creating space. In turn this enabled the ball to move swiftly through the centre court and down towards the shooters. The score was 5-13 at the end of the third quarter. Immy showed awesome marking in defence, taking several great intercepts and making it very difficult for her player to get free in the D. Although the 2nd’s had a challenging match this week they never let the score discourage them and continued to play hard until the very end. Well done girls!

U13/U12B VII Rugby vs Seaford

Score: 8-10

Despite apocalyptic looking clouds, the rain held off and there was even some sunshine to greet the Amesbury U13/U12B team as they arrived at Seaford.

The boys took to the pitch in fine spirits and began playing some fantastic rugby. Over the course of the game, the standard only improved and by the final few minutes, players were making speedy line breaks, supporting each other and off-loading brilliantly.

Seaford were strong and obviously well drilled however Amesbury did not let this affect the way they wanted to play and as a result managed to score some absolutely breath-taking trys.

Towards the end, Seaford managed to break through the Amesbury defensive line and with some nimble footwork scored a couple of trys that took the score to 8 trys to 10.

A close, hard fought encounter where a draw would have been a fair reflection of the quality of rugby on display.

U11C Netball vs Highfield
Lost 6-1
Players player- Camila
Lady of the match- Ruby

With bearable weather at Amesbury, it was a lovely afternoon of matches for the U11’s. The girls started off extremely well and definitely worked their socks off. Our passing was strong and accurate which helped us get to the D very quickly. At the D the girls movement on the ball and off the ball was outstanding. They were doing some fantastic dodges and finding open spaces in order to receive the ball. The U11C’s created many opportunities for themselves and they were very quick to pick up any loose balls on the court. Defensive wise we were on fire. The girls were sticking to their players like glue and making exceptional interceptions resulting in us gaining possession of the ball many times. Unfortunately towards the end of the match the girls lost their stamina and started to get tired allowing Highfield to take the lead. All in all it was a good match and the girls showed great sportsmanship so well done U11C’s!

1st XIII Rugby v Seaford College home

Lost 5-40
Report: The U13s put up a brave battle in their opening fixture against a team which had been playing Rugby since September. Naturally, Seaford were quicker to settle into the pace of the game and by half-time they had scored four tries, despite some sterling tackling by many Amesburians. The 2nd half saw Amesbury battering at the Seaford goal-line when we suffered one of those unfortunate occurrences which can happen with the bounce of an oval ball; a miscued Seaford clearance bounced away from 2 Amesburians and sat up perfectly for the lone Seaford boy who had an open field ahead and he raced the whole length of the pitch to score. However, Amesbury showed admirable spirit in competing to the very end and scoring a well-deserved try, as well as creating several other chances. Seaford played some good open Rugby in a well-contested match.

1st Netball v Feltonfleet

Lost 11-23

Lady of the match: Georgie H
Player’s Player: Emily H
Another tough game for the 1st team today against an incredibly strong FF side. The girls maintained their focus throughout and it was admirable to see them keeping their heads held high as they fought for every ball. Emily H and Lara worked extremely hard, marking their girls well, which was no mean feat given their height and strength. Emily H turned over possession many times thanks to her well timed interceptions and should be praised for her perseverance. The centre court players struggled somewhat today against some very tall FF opponents. They soon realised that overheads would not work and despite some sound attempts, the bounce pass wasn’t a success either. Gracie and Emily B made a great partnership today. They had some great attempts and in the second quarter we had pulled back to 7-9. Sadly, Feltonfleet increased their lead in the second half and pulled the game from our control. Dora, Libby, Gracie and Bo worked incredibly hard to fight for every ball, however, we just couldn’t touch the FF girls.
Well done girls. A tough game but you fought well!

Under 12A Rugby vs Seaford

Amesbury 0, Seaford 45

This was a very tough opening match for the Under 12s. Seaford has been playing rugby all term and their superior organisation and teamwork was evident throughout. To their credit the boys never gave up and they played their best rugby in the 2nd half. Well done to Lucas and Toby who tackled hard throughout. A mention also for Rory who was very brave when he broke his finger and had to leave the pitch. There is work to be done but given their very positive attitude, we will definitely improve.
