Fixtures for Years 3 and 4 fall on a Thursday afternoon and for Years 5-8 on a Wednesday afternoon.  Details of which can be found within the Amesbury Sport section.  There are occasional tournaments and cup fixtures which take place on other days and very occasional weekends.

Boys’ Fixtures

The Boys’ Fixture list includes matches against other prep schools with strong sporting reputations including: Aldro, Barrow Hills, Cranleigh Prep, Edgeborough, Feltonfleet, Highfield, Hoe Bridge, Eagle House, Westbourne House, Lanesborough and Pennthorpe. Tournaments hosted by Senior schools are also regularly attended.

In the Michaelmas Term Football and Rugby are played, in the Lent Term Rugby, Hockey and Cross Country and in the Trinity Term, Cricket and Athletics. Tennis takes place all year round. Swimming takes place for Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 in the Lent Term.

Girls’ Fixtures

The Girls play against many other sporting prep schools which include Cranleigh Prep, Feltonfleet, Highfield, Barrow Hills, Windlesham House, Westbourne House, St Ives, St Catherine’s, Hoe Bridge, The Royal School and Pennthorpe. IAPS competitions and school tournaments are also attended.

In the Michaelmas Term Netball is played, in the Lent Term Hockey and Cross Country and in the Trinity Term, Cricket and Athletics. Tennis takes place all year round. Swimming takes place for Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 in the Lent Term.

Team Selection

Teams are selected on ability.  We also are an inclusive department and all boys and girls will play as many matches as possible on fixture days.  When pupil numbers do not match up with our opponents we will still try to play every pupil – this may be half a match for two teams against the opponent’s one team.  A rotation policy is used so that no boy or girl is always a starting substitute for two weeks running.   A substitute will always get game time on fixtures afternoon.

IAPS and tournaments are an exception to the rule and are based on ability to win.
