School News

“To us is given the honour of striking a blow for freedom which will live in history; and in the better days that lie ahead men will speak with pride of our doings. We have a great and a righteous cause.”

Field Marshal Montgomery

Today at Amesbury, commemorations are taking place, for the 75th anniversary of the D Day landings. Teachers will be talking to their children about the landings and why today is important. Older year groups will also meet in the memorial garden, where Mr Hamilton, Head of History will discuss ‘Monty’s’ association with Amesbury. We will consider what remembrance is and the gratitude we share for those who fought and died for us. Mr Donaldson will then lead us in a silent moment of reflection.

We are very proud of our heritage here at Amesbury and hope you will spend a few moments reflecting today also.

Best wishes,

Sheina Wright
