Year 7 and 8 Tchouk Ball Team v Fareham Club

Won: 27 – 20

It was the Year 7 and 8s 1st Tchouk Ball match of the term on Tuesday 17th October against Fareham, this is a team we have played before and it is always a great match. Ollie C was the only player from last year that had played, the rest of the team had only started playing since the start of term. They had been training hard on a Monday morning at 7.45am to prepare and have worked so hard learning about the sport and challenging themselves to improve.

There was a squad of 8 players and each member of the team rotated off (as there are only 7 on court at one time). The match was made up of 10 minute thirds, at the start of the match, the Amesbury shook hands to wish the opposition good luck and then it was to the starting positions. The 1st third – both teams were finding their feet, the ball was dropped which meant possession goes to the other team, but loads of energy! The team moved into different positions and their switching was great. There were some fantastic shots from Lucas, Tom, Max and Toby. What was wonderful to see was how both teams improved through the match, in the second third, Amesbury led by one point (9-8). The team defended throughout the match working hard to get to second line both ends, this showed super team work and covering each other. Ollie B, Georgie and Rory run hard up and down the court running second line and front line defence. In the final third, the Amesbury team really picked up the pace and the ball moved from end to end. Ollie C, used his experience brilliantly and shot with precision and supported the team on their first match.

In Tchouk Ball there is not contact, not obstruction and no interception, if the ball in dropped or a point is scored the ball is turned over. Tchouk Ball is a special sport for a number of reasons one of them being you can shoot at both ends!

A big thank you to Miss Toynton who helped Fareham out and played for them to complete their team (she had only played once before and she was great!). There was a real buzz in the Sports hall, a fantastic performance from the team, well done!Thank you to the parents who came and watched and supported the teams, there was even talk of a parents match against the Year 7 and 8 team… watch this space!

Tchouk Ball Club is open to anyone in year 7 and 8 on a Monday Morning. 7.45am to 8.15am.
