1st and 2nd Rounders V Highfield
Wednesday 21st June
The match on Wednesday was a slightly unusual one, as the 1st innings was a mass rounders match. A combination of the 1st and 2nd team together against their 1st and 2nd , this was because the Highfield U11A team thought we were going to them and we thought they were coming to us! Amesbury took a while to adjust to the different bowling style, and despite some great hits, Highfield were slick in the field. This restricted Amesbury to 4 rounders. The scorers were, Lily, Matilda and Emily, although many more great hits. When it came to the fielding, it took Amesbury a while to wake up in the heat… which allowed Highfield to get off to a flying start. The second half of the first innings was much tighter but Highfield had already taken the lead and at the end of the innings had scored 7 1/2 rounders.
The U11s from Highfield arrived and played our U11s, which meant the teams changed for the 1st and 2nd Team. The 2nd team mixed with the Highfield girls and played a training match in preparation for their final match against Hoebridge next week. It allowed them to play different positions, Dora and Maddy had a go at bowling which went well and great hits from Anabelle and Lottie when they batted. The teams were called Hamesbury and Team Beef. Their final score was 8-8.
The 1st team had a much stronger 2nd innings, it was tough for Sophie and Lily who were out on first bats and are our strong batters, but they were fantastic on the side lines and supported the team. There were great rounders from Roxy, Emily, Honor, Isabella and Sophie L and half rounders from Matilda. There were good risks and great ball placement, their total was 8 ½. There were some changes in the field for the 1st team and this was effective. Great long barriers from Lily and catches. They managed to get 7 of their players out! Highfield scored 7 ½ rounders in the 2nd innings, which meant they won the second innings in the Year 8s last rounders match at Amesbury. Fantastic team work and a great performance by all.
