Amesbury 64/4
Won by 6 wickets
This might look like an easy win but it was a tense affair after looking like being a cakewalk. Seaford were invited to bat and promptly collapsed to 18/8! However, they managed to cobble 60 together off 24.5 overs and Amesbury then descended to 4/2 and 15/3, with very inexperienced batting to come, given this was just our third match and we’d only lost 4 wickets in total in the first two. Luckily, the captain, whose decision to bowl on a baking hot afternoon (the hottest May day since 1944 no less), suggested that he might have been out in the midday sun for a shade too long(!), dug in with admirable patience and concentration against some impressively straight, good-length bowling and keen fielding. The skipper’s was a supporting role as our No.3 made an excellent 39* to clinch victory in the 21st over of an attritional match. Well played!
