U8A’s vs Belmont School
On a lovely sunny Thursday afternoon, in the heart of the Surrey Hills Amesbury started the game in high spirits. Amesbury where put into bat by Belmont, the opening partnership of Harry and George batted well and avoided losing a wicket. The next pair came out to bat and put bat on ball and really increase the run rate with four fours in there two overs. The third partnership of Sam and Alfie was an effective one with superb running between the wickets. The final pair of Harry and James put a great finish to an excellent batting performance with some lovely shots. Amesbury ended up with 75 for 3. Top effort.
Next came the bowling, which Amesbury started with real intent with a excellent catch of the first ball of the innings by George. Amesbury bowled and field very well giving very little away. The pick of the bowlers was Sam who only went for 3 runs of his over with no extras. Belmont only reached 53-3 of there overs,Top effort from the A’s.

Under 9A Rounders v Highfield

Won 12-10

Batter of the game: Isobel K
Fielder of the game: Yssy G

On another glorious, sunny afternoon the Amesbury girls played an incredibly exciting rounders game against Highfield. In the first innings, despite not batting particularly well, the girls managed to ‘risk’ well enough to add a number of half rounders here and there. Unfortunately both Yssy and Chloe ran themselves out in the first innings, therefore not adding to the scoresheet. Luckily in the second innings, Yssy managed to score a lovely rounder from a super hit. Isobel K was on fine form throughout the match; striking the ball cleanly and running beautifully. Maisy also ‘risked’ really well to add to our score.

As we went into field, the girls demonstrated a really calm and steady game. Chloe worked well to get the ball to second post, where Florence brilliantly stumped a number of players out. While both Tamzi and Milly fielded brilliantly in the Deep, retrieving the ball quickly and sending promptly where needed.

Although a very close game, the girls deserved the 12-10 win. Well done on a great game!

U9B Rounders vs Highfield

Result: Won 18-7.5
Batter: Lily
Fielder: Neve

The sun was shining and we were in high spirits heading down the road to Highfield. On arrival we had a good warm up and were ready to play.

Amesbury were put into bat and made a quick start. Some excellent batting and sensible running from Lily, Claudia, and Merry guided the girls to an impressive first innings total of 10 Rounders.

Amesbury were full of energy and took to the field with confidence. Good communication from the team as well as several fantastic catches from Neve meant that Amesbury got all of the Highfield girls out in 16 balls.

The second innings was much like the first with Francesca scoring 2 Rounders. Amesbury ended with a total of 18 Rounders.

The girls once again fielded with confidence and prevented Highfield scoring leaving the final score 18-7.5 in Amesbury’s favour.

Well done to all.

U9B Cricket vs Belmont

Score: Won
It was a gloriously sunny day when Amesbury U9B took on Belmont U9Bs. Belmont batted first and immediately struggled against some super Amesbury bowling. Some excellent fielding backed up the bowling and kept the Belmont score to 85.
Amesbury went into back and instantly looked like they meant business. Some superb shot selection combined with some quick decisive running between the wickets meant Amesbury cruised home to victory with a score of 100 for the loss of only 1 wicket.
An excellent game of cricket and a real team performance.

Amesbury U8C’s boys cricket vs Belmont school

Score: Belmont 216-8 (12 overs) v Amesbury 279-2 (12 overs)

Summer has definitely set in but sadly the cricket season is coming to an end. The Amesbury boys ventured out to face Belmont in the beautiful Surrey Hills. The cricket didn’t disappoint as the boys put together their best bowling display to date. It was accurate, technically improved and a joy to watch. In the field they were switched on and took their opportunities to run out and catch the opposition. 8 wickets were taken: 1 catch, 1 run out and 6 clean bowled. Belmont ran between the wicket well and our extras helped them to a score of 216-8 after 12 overs. In the Amesbury innings the boys continued their fine form taking sensible singles, boundaries and all the potential byes. They protected their wicket well and managed to exceed their target with overs to spare. They finished on 279-2. A comprehensive and well deserved victory.

U8A Rounders Amesbury v Brookham

Results
Amesbury: 16
Highfield: 8 1/2

Player of the match: Alice
Batter of the match: Jessica
Fielder of the match: Libby

The U8 A girls played a great match today against Brookham. The girls worked very hard and finished the game victorious! Amesbury began fielding first and the girls demonstrated some strong skills with Libby and Annie working very well together as backstop and bowler, showing great communication and support. Amelia and Jess were both out fielding and were quick to attack the ball, working well together trying to stump out some of Brookham’s players. Ellie and Alice were playing as deeps and were supporting Jess on second post, returning the ball to her and Libby as bowler as quickly and possible to limit the half rounders scored by Brookham. Hebe, Tilly and Anya were also attacking the ball and were fielding brilliantly they had great energy and commitment, We saw many long and short barriers from all the girls which was great as it stopped the ball travelling further. When it came to batting the girls were hitting brilliantly with accuracy and power. Alice, Anya, Libby, Annie and Ellie had some terrific strikes of the ball and as a result scored some well deserved rounders. We also saw some great half rounders from all the girls during the match today and some great risking from Ellie on her last bat. The Amesbury girls were very determined in their match today and worked brilliantly together as a team! Congratulations to you all.
