U8 Netball vs. Edgeborough

U8B

Players player: Honor
Lady of the match: Hebe

The heavens opened just in time for the U8b’s first match not only of the season but representing Amesbury! Despite the miserable conditions the girls were full of energy and determination ready to play their first ever game against Edgeborough. All of the girls showed promising signs of great technique when passing and using the correct footwork despite only having a handful of training session prior to the match. The girls moved the ball well down the court while getting to grips with their positions role in the game. Some impressive shooting from both GS and player of the match Hebe at GA, meant that the U8b’s managed to win with a final score of 3-1. The defensive and mid-court players made life difficult for the Edgeborough attack by sticking close to their opponents and even managed to intercept a few of their passes. All of the girls should be so proud of their performance today, each one stayed positive throughout the match making it a very enjoyable game, not only us but the many supportive parents on the side line! Well done girls, keep up the hard work ready for your second match next week. Miss Donaldson

U8B Football VI vs Highfield

A damp, chilly and drizzly afternoon greeted the Amesbury U8 Bs as they arrived at Highfield eager for victory. The first half started at a great pace and despite the surface being wet and slippy, the skill level on display was fantastic. Some super challenges won the ball back from a strong Highfield midfield and soon Amesbury were making some attacking breaks. Break after attacking break continued until the referee was lifting his whistle for half time and Amesbury managed to knock the ball past the Highfield keeper.

The second half was a more one sided affair with Amesbury out classing Highfield in all areas. Again, the tackling was strong, communication and support play was excellent and it was no surprise to spectators when Amebusry scored two more superb goals. The final score was 3-0 to Amesbury, a fantastic game of football.

U9A Football v Highfield

Amesbury were involved in an absolutely thrilling game away at Highfield today. With the rain pouring down, the Amesbury players came out and put in a performance of quality and complete team effort. They were rewarded with some early attacking pressure with George opening the scoring for Amesbury. William, Thomas and James did well to communicate and defend in front of the Amesbury goal to keep the home side at bay. However, Highfield pressure did prove too much and an equaliser soon followed. Highfield scored another just before half time to take a 2-1 lead. At the start of the second half and throughout the game John was superb in the Amesbury goal. A number of times he kept amesbury in the game with some fine stops and goalkeeping. Ben was tireless in defence and attack running all over the park to support other teammates. Nick game on in the second half to equalise and finish off a fine Amesbury attack. With the final minutes counting down Amesbury took the lead again and secured a fantastic 3-2 win against Highfield. Massive congratulations to the team.

U8C’S Football vs Brookham

The U8C’S game against Brookham was clearly an autumn fixture with torrential rain. The rain tried to dampen spirits but the boys were superb. The first half team started strongly with some great attacking play with our midfield and strikers dribbling well. Unfortunately a quick breakaway from Brookham meant they stole the opening goal. The boys settled into the game and their defence rapidly adapted to the game with one pushing up and the other holding the fort. Sadly as the half end with another goal leaving the first team an undeserved 2-0 loss. The standout performance is hard to chose but Barney deserves a significant mention. The second half team continued the pressure with a great press defence. Theo worked hard really squash any attacks early on. In attack neither the first or second half team could quiet get their final strike away. Sadly the game ended 3-0. A harsh result for the effort the boys put in.

U8A Football v Brookham

The rain had started to fall from the sky as the U8A team made their way onto the pitch to play Brookham, despite this the team were incredibly up for the challenge facing them. The first half got under way and there was some brilliant positional play and passing into space, this resulted in a fantastic first half with the team being 4-0 up at half time. The second half continued in much the same way, with the players rotating through several different positions and at the end they won a thoroughly deserved 7-1. All the members of the team contributed well and had a great time. Mr Randall

U9C Football v Highfield

The under 9 C’s took on Highfield under 9 C’s on Thursday the 21st of September. Being able to witness this game was an absolute pleasure as Amesbury won the game 7-0. It was all Amesbury throughout the game. Although it was raining quite heavily the whole match , that factor didn’t dampen the spirits one bit as the boys enjoyed every minute of the fixture. I can’t fault the boys at all. Well done to them on a magnificent team effort. Mr Brown
