U8 Boys B’s Rugby tournament at Cranleigh

Excellent effort all round from Amesbury’s side in there tournament today, coming away undefeated in there first taste of school rugby.

Match 1 vs Cranleigh (7-5 Amesbury)

The first match was a tight affair against Cranleigh. Captain Barney made the first play of the match, passing to Cameron, who ran away for a try. Cranleigh hit back in the next set, which Amesbury answered with a second try. Back and forth scoring saw scores level 4 tries apiece at half time. Early in the first half Amesbury pulled away to a 6-4 lead, with scoring slowing due to defence improving markedly on both sides. Cranleigh broke the shackles to bring it back to 6-5, before Amesbury polished it off with a final try to Theo, finishing the match winners 7-5.

Match 2 vs Eagle House (8-2 Amesbury)
Fresh off a victory in there first taste of rugby, the boys felt primed to take on their next opponents, Eagle House. A strong foundation laid in defence by all the boys, lead by Barney, Alfie and Henry, saw the Amesbury boys run out eventual winners 8-2. Henry and Alfie both backed up there defensive efforts with tries of their own, whilst Barney made one fantastic break to be pulled up just short. Tries in this match also to Harry and Cameron saw the boys finish the match and there first day of Amesbury rugby very strongly. Well done all the boys.
