Lost 9 ½ – 8

Batter of the match: Chloe

Fielder of the match: Florence

The sun was shining over at Fyfeild and the girls were excited to play.  Due to slight confusion GHS bought their U9A team however, this was not a problem as the Amesbury U8’s were up for the challenge!  Chloe was selected to be captain and won the toss, therefore made a brilliant decision to field first. The girls played brilliantly as a team and managed to get out 4 GHS girls by stumping them out at posts.  Florence and Ysabel worked well together as bowler and backstop.  Chloe watched the ball well at second post, ready to stump out players.  Isobel, Victoria, Milly and Sophie fielded the ball with determination and remembering to get down into the long barrier position.  After 20 good balls the girls were now up to bat and had 6 rounders to beat.  Most of the girls scored either a rounder or a half, really giving GHS a good match.  Isobel scored a total of 3 rounders after hitting the ball with power.  Ysabel also had some brilliant big hits on her.  After the first innings Amesbury were beating GHS by 1 rounder which was fantastic, seeing as the opposition were a year ahead of them.  In the second innings the girls continued to field the ball well.  GHS scored a total of 3 ½ rounders.  After 10 good balls the girls swapped round and Amesbury could now try and match GHS score.  Chloe went on to score 2 ½ rounders but unfortunately GHS had really tightened up their fielding.  The overall result was 9 ½ – 8 to GHS.  This was a brilliant score, especially at the girls were playing against an U9A team.  Well done.
