The Amesbury U8B’s went out to face a strong bowling attack from Eagle House. The opening two bowlers took 3 wickets putting huge pressure on the batsman. If it wasn’t for a few boundaries and some great tee shots Amesbury would be struggling in the opening exchanges. The boys settled down and started to consistently pick up 20 to 40 runs in their pairs. The running between the wickets improved and stopped offering easy run outs. The final score was 311-6. In the field the batting was of the top draw and the fielders had to work hard to slow the run rate. Up to the last three overs, Amesbury had done well to restrict the boundaries. Some superb stops on the boundaries and a few close catches kept us in tough. Unfortunately in the penultimate over the Eagle House boys managed to remove any influence of the fielders by hitting two 6’s and three 4’s. The final score was 359-1.

3rd XI
In the sweltering the Amesbury 3rd XI went out to bat and were under pressure early on with an early wicket. However, Will and Christopher steadied the ship with a strong partnership of 54. Will had a captains innings to added another quick 28 and close the inning out on 162-4. In the field a quick rotation of bowlers and superb fielding helped pick up early wickets leaving their required run rate in tatters. Over the opening ten overs they were restricted to a tidy 40-3. Unfortunately once their opener had given up the chase their extended tail struggled to dent our score leaving the 3rd XI with an 80 run win, 82-4. It was a joyous match played in great spirit.
