Amesbury U9C (14/3) lost to Eagle House U9C (22/1) by 8 runs
Amesbury bowled first on a very lovely afternoon and managed to keep the runs down to a minimum in the opening couple of overs, to really put the pressure on the opposition. That was until the 5th and 6th overs when they managed to score 16 runs, primarily down to Marko (who had kindly agreed to play for them) who, unfortunately for us, batted very well. Despite these two overs we felt that it was a total that we could chase down.
The innings started slowly, with Amesbury struggling to get bat on ball regularly enough to keep the score ticking over. This pressure meant that we began to take more risky runs, and unfortunately we were run out twice in this period. The combination of losing wickets and struggling to score runs freely, meant that our last pair had an uphill task of trying to score 23 runs in their two overs. Charlie did his best to try and chase down the target, scoring 11 runs off 8 balls, but the loss of another wicket in this time just made the task too difficult.
Good bowling and fielding from the team, but a need to keep the scoreboard ticking was crucial, as well as ensuring we did not lose wickets in the process.
